This looks like a good place for this comment. Check out National Catholic Register for this week. There is an article about Shield in it. I haven't read it myself yet.
Have any of you seen the Variety review for Bella: http://www.variety.com/review/VE1117932633.html?categoryid=31&cs=1
I was very amused.
Similarly burdened with half-developed motivations, Jose impulsively ups and leaves his post just as the restaurant is about to open its doors for lunch and accompanies Nina around the city for the rest of the day, despite the fact that he barely knows her and the entire kitchen operation depends on him.
Isn't that the point? Doesn't the entire movie build on his "inexplicable" choice (which is not so inexplicable at all) to care for a friend in need more than a business?
The critics have been hating on this film in general. It saddens me; so many of them are just titillating fools from a bygone era; with their vices dressed up to look like intellectualism. Blah!
Bella placed second las weekend in money per theater, but need another good weekend to be distributed nationally. Get out to see it (again) this weekend if you can!
